What’s next for Rainbow Heartlands LGBTQ+?

Rainbow Heartlands launched as an activities and opportunities programme in February 2022, under the LGBT+ charity Pink Saltire.

Since then, we have worked to develop greater awareness, collaboration and a fresh approach towards LGBT+ inclusion across Perth & Kinross. With the guidance from colleagues both within Pink Saltire and across the community groups, we have been able to:

Develop a range of new opportunities for people in creative fields, outdoors and through their own interests
Set up and run a pop-up hub in Perth over 2 months, with support from Perth & Kinross Council
Toured around Perth & Kinross in the run up to Perthshire Pride to promote local services and activities available to people
Provided support through the Cost-of-Living crisis to those most in need across the community
Worked with the many groups across Perth & Kinross to devise a monthly calendar of activities
Provided a digital hub through our Rainbow Heartlands website, with regular updates applied and open for the community to provide their ideas

Naturally, none of this would have been possible without the funding there, and we would like to thank all of our funders and contributions to date.

We would like to thank our funding partners for all their support towards Rainbow Heartlands.

Regrettably, all good things come to an end, and Pink Saltire made the decision to wind up as a charity at the end of April 2023. This brought an end to 9 years of community based programmes, supporting the development of Prides in rural communities and voicing the concerns and hardships that those in the LGBT+ face to those who can make change happen.
Pink Saltire was true to their motive and will be greatly missed for all their efforts!
However, in Perth & Kinross, we are striving to succeed on Pink Saltire’s work and go further to support those across the LGBTQ+ community.

So, the big question: WHAT’S NEXT?

Well, we are very pleased to announce that Rainbow Heartlands LGBTQ+ has successful registered as a SCIO (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation) as of 27th April 2023.

As a collective of LGBTQ+ people and allies, we will work to create further opportunities, continue our joint effort with other community groups and keep an open dialogue with those across the community.

As we get things ready, we will continue to provide regular updates about what’s already happening in the community, and encourage you to check out what’s available just now to get involved in. We will keep in touch with more updates as things progress, and we can’t wait to get started!
